Who Qualifies For The Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are actually open and will shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should meet the subsequent criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a home having a combined gross domestic income that doesn't exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined residence earnings does not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and wish not post any evidence of nsfas status earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent residents from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to supply the right Identification Document numbers, names, and surname, as reflected inside their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are finding out or plan to study at a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
